WEEE, or how to recylce
Sefelec wishes to clearly communicate on the WEEE directive in order to clarify the situation concerning its range of Test & Measurement equipments.
Let’s do it simply and clearly in 5 points :
1. Definition
WEEE means Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
The WEEE Directive is indeed asking the manufacturers of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, to recycle their products. For more information, download the directive below.
WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC
2. Its aim
The WEEE Directive aims to minimise the impacts of electrical and electronic equipment on the environment by creating products that can be recycled, reused, or recovered.
3. Is Sefelec concerned by the WEEE ?
Yes, Sefelec products fall within the scope of the WEEE Directive ; we have to recycle our products.
4. Since when has the WEEE be applied ?
Since 2005, august the 13th, WEEE has to be applied and Sefelec does indicate it with the little bin symbol, sticked on all our delivered instruments, since august 2005.
5. What to do when a product has to be destroyed ?
When such a product has to be thrown away, it has to be destroyed through a recycling company, specialised in the destruction of the products concerned by the WEEE.
So the action to do is either to locally contact this recycling company, or get in touch with the manufacturer for recycling in France (the goods then have to be shipped back to Sefelec at the customer cost).
For information, Sefelec is in discussion with Recy’stem Pro Company for the recycling of his products.
The WEEE is only applicable for the EU member States.
